5 Great Recipe Ideas For Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is just around the corner, and after that there will be plenty of opportunities to go on a picnic in the park or host a cookout. Our gift shop at the Lake of the Ozarks has lots of delicious gourmet mixes that are perfect for serving a group of hungry people. Today we've shared 5 recipes that you can easily make from the Wind & Willow mixes we carry at Good & Perfect Gifts. 

Zucchini Pizza 
This is a delicious and unique way to make "pizza." It's perfect for vegetarians, but if you're a meat-lover, ground beef or sausage tastes great added on.  

• 1 Brick Oven Pizza Cheeseball & Appetizer Mix
• 1/4 cup olive oil
• 2 small tomatoes, sliced
• 1 cup shredded cheese of your choice 
• 1 fresh basil, chopped 

Preheat oven to 375° or cook on the grill. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. Cut each zucchini in half horizontally, then scoop out the seeds. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with dry Cheeseball Mix. Top with sliced tomato, cheese, basil, and sprinkle with topping packet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until soft. Serve warm. Feel free to add your favorite toppings in addition to the ones listed above.

Spinach Stuffed MushroomsA flavorful food to keep the crowd fed while the main dish is being prepared. The Spinach-Artichoke Cheeseball & Appetizer Mix is also a great crowd-pleaser served as a dip too!  

• 1 Spinach-Artichoke Cheeseball & Appetizer Mix
• 8-oz. cream cheese
• 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) softened butter
• 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese or bread crumbs
• 1 dozen mushrooms

Preheat oven to 350°  Line a baking pan with foil and spray with oil.
Combine Cheeseball Mix and contents of topping packet with cream cheese and butter. Fill mushroom caps with mixture. Top with parmesan cheese or bread crumbs. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

Country Club Chicken Salad
If you're heading out for a picnic instead of a cookout, or if you have leftover grilled chicken that needs to be used, this recipe is perfect. 

• 1 Wind & Willow Cheeseball & appetizer Mix
• 1 cup mayo
• 2 celery stalks - sliced or diced
• 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
• 30 red or green grapes - halved
• 1 roasted chicken (shredded or cubed)

Combine Wind & Willow Cheeseball Mix (topping used later) with 1 cup mayo and set aside. Place shredded or cubed chicken in a mixing bowl. Fold in mayo mixture, celery, walnuts, grapes, and 1/2 of the topping. Sprinkle remaining topping over chicken salad to garnish. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve on croissants or bread of your choice. 
*Optional:
-For a healthier version, substitute the mayo with Greek yogurt!
-Serve on small toast points or dinner rolls for a quick appetizer.

Lemon Pops
These make a cool and tasty treat for a hot day!

• 1 Lemon Cheesecake Cheeseball & Dessert Mix
• 8-oz. plain yogurt
• 1/2 cup water
• 6 popsicle molds
• 6 popsicle sticks

In a saucepan, combine Cheeseball Mix (lemon or your favorite flavor! Pina Colada is a delicious one too.) with water, stirring over medium heat until well dissolved. Let mixture cool, then stir in yogurt. Pour yogurt mixture into the molds, adding a popsicle stick to each one. Place in freezer until frozen. Sprinkle with the graham crunch topping and enjoy!

Fresh Fruit Parfait
A wonderful fresh fruit dessert to serve after a big meal. 

• 1 Wind & Willow Sweet Cheeseball Dessert Mix
• 8-oz. cream cheese
• 3 cups shortbread cookies, crushed
• 3 cups fresh fruit, sliced
• 8-oz. whipped topping
• 4 mason jars

Combine Cheeseball Mix with cream cheese until well combined. Spoon 4 Tbsp of cookie crumbs into each of the mason jars; top with 4 Tbsp of cream cheese mixture. Cover with layers of fruit, cookie crumbs, and cream cheese mixture. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with topping packet and a few berries for garnish. 

*Tips:
-Use 8 smaller jars to double your parfaits!
-Substitute the crushed cookies with cubed angel food cake!

The Joy of a Candle Without the Flame! Our Tyler Mixer Melts

Every week we host "Fragrant Thursday" at Good & Perfect Gifts in Eldon, starring the Tyler Candle Company. They not only have amazing scented candles to offer, but they also produce many other items that make your house smell incredible. One of those items in particular that we love here at our Lake of the Ozarks gift shop is the Mixer Melts.

What is a Mixer Melt?
Tyler's glamorous Mixer Melts are scented squares of wax that give a room the wonderful smell of a burning candle without having to light a flame. The Mixer Melts are placed into a Fragrance Warmer. The warmer is plugged in for a heat source, and as the surface warms up, the Mixer Melt releases whatever fabulous scent that you have chosen to put into it. 

Wide Variety of Amazing Scents
The Tyler Candle Company uses a high grade of fragrance allowing the different scents to combine easily with each other. Mixer melts can be used alone, or you can "mix it up" by combining 2 or more different scents. Extremely creative Tyler fans have even been known to mix up to 6 fragrances together! Beautiful Symbols of Easter

Lots of the things that people associate with spring are also associated with the Easter holiday. It's not necessarily because they both occur at the same time, but rather because there are many meaningful reasons behind quite a few of them. The home decor items at the Lake of the Ozarks that we have in store right now make excellent Easter decorations. After learning some of the symbolism surrounding them, they seem even more beautiful.  

The Cross
