Prepare Broccoli Cheddar Soup according to directions on package. Layer potatoes in baking dish. Pour soup over potatoes. Cover with foil and bake for 50 minutes. Uncover and top with grated cheese. Return to oven for 10 minutes. Serves 6-8.

The 31st Annual Turkey Festival is Saturday

Many of the big events in this area happen in towns surrounding our Lake of the Ozarks gift shop, but not this one. The 31st Annual Turkey Festival will be taking place in downtown Eldon this Saturday, September 24, 2016. Good & Perfect Gifts has pulled together a few details about this fantastic annual event so that you don't miss any of the excitement.

The Turkey Festival takes place every fall. The day will begin with the Turkey Trot & Gobble Wobble 5K race. You can enter through the Eldon Chamber of Commerce, and the race will start promptly at 7:30 am in front of the Eldon Pool at the Air Park. You are strongly encouraged to pre-register, but late registrations will be accepted during sign-in from 6:45 - 7:15 am that morning.

The street downtown is blocked off and filled with booth after booth of all kinds of fun items. Booths are open from 9 am - 5 pm, and this year's parade, which is themed "Shake Your Tail Feathers," will begin at 10 am. Entertainment will be taking place on 3 different stages all day long. This year there will also be a turkey calling contest hosted by J.T. Gerlt from KS95 Radio, and turkey bowling is back.

Another highlight of the Turkey Festival every year is the delicious food. Vendors will be set up downtown serving many different favorites, like BBQ, funnel cakes, kettle corn, fried pickles, and lots more. We can't possibly forget about those giant turkey legs too. Get yours early, because they usually sell out every year.
