Creative Gift Wrapping Ideas

Finding the perfect present for the special people on your list is the fun part, but wrapping them up to give away is where the work starts.  It needs to be done, and with a little bit of creativity, you can make the package almost as incredible as what is inside of it.  Our Lake of the Ozarks gift shop is filled with wonderful things in all shapes and sizes for everyone on your list.  The following ideas from Good & Perfect Gifts in Eldon will inspire you to get creative with your gift wrapping.

The easiest thing to do, aside from letting someone else wrap the gifts for you, is to place it in a pretty Christmas bag.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with going the easy route.  No one is going to turn down a filled gift bag!  If you would like to get a little more creative when you wrap gifts this season, try a few of the following ideas.

PERSONALIZED PAPER

We're not talking about the wrapping paper that you can buy in every store.  Choose a type of paper that matches the gift or a hobby of the recipient.  Wrap action figures in comic book pages, or a football in the sports section of the newspaper.  Sheet music is perfect for music lovers, and if you use it from a Christmas song, it's perfect for any present.

Another way to go is to use plain paper and decorate it yourself.  There is no need for a gift tag if you stamp the name of the person getting the gift directly on the paper.  Cover the paper in holiday stickers, glue on cut-out snowflakes, or draw your own pictures or messages.  Kids will especially love helping out with a project like this.

A GIFT INSIDE A GIFT

In this case, the only decoration needed is possibly a great big bow stuck on top.  If you give away a gift that can be filled with other things, the packaging is taken care of.  In some cases, this is helpful for hard-to-wrap items too.  A few examples would be:

  • Fill an oven mitt with cooking utensils and your favorite recipe.
  • Put almost anything inside a large mason jar.  It can be dry mix for cookies or cocoa, or a mini-spa kit with nail files, cotton balls, and nail polish.
  • Pack a cooler filled with picnic or tailgating items.
  • Put new sheets and a stuffed animal inside the pillowcase and tie it with string.
  • Something large, like a bicycle, can be covered up in a festively patterned sheet.
  • Even if the gift is boxed up, use a blanket, t-shirt, or other fabric for the paper and you've got 2-gifts-in-1.

STOCKINGS

The classic Christmas stocking could work, but if you think outside the box, you can get creative with this presentation too.  Fill a couple of knee socks with all kinds of goodies and tie them together at the top with a fancy shoelace.  Slippers can hold lots of items too.  You could even skip the sock and use a shoe.  Imagine how much you could stuff into a tall boot!

Going that extra mile to make the outside of the package as special as what is inside makes everything seem more festive and fun.  This may not be for everyone though.  If you don't have the extra time to get creative with your gift wrapping,  no one will mind one bit.  It's not the packaging or even the gift that matters, but the love and thought behind it.

If you want to make things even easier on yourself, pick up one of the already made hand-packaged gift baskets from our Eldon gift shop.  We can even custom design one for you.  There are tons of items at Good & Perfect Gifts for every person on your list.  Stop by soon and let us take care of you.
