Tips & Tricks For Hanging Art On Your Walls

You may have a bare wall in your home that needs something, but you're just not quite sure what. Our home decor store at the Lake of the Ozarks has an excellent variety of beautiful pieces to fill that empty spot in your room. Still, deciding exactly how to place it can be intimidating. Today Good & Perfect Gifts in Eldon has a few tips to help make that part of it a little bit easier.

Art to Wall Ratio
If you are hanging more than one piece of art on the same wall, but aren't exactly sure how to arrange them, treat the cluster as you would one single piece. Lay them all out on the floor first to see how it looks and think about how they relate to the wall in terms of size, color, and the theme of the artwork. Rearrange pieces as necessary, and be sure that there is a similar distance between each feature of your wall art.

Get the Right Angle
If you hang wall art too high, you’ll affect the room’s proportions. If you place it too low, viewing the piece will be uncomfortable. Use your eye to judge what looks right and make sure it appears composed. It shouldn't be so much that it overwhelms the room. If there is already a lot going on visually in a room, opt for fewer, larger pieces that will stand out. Too many small things in one place easily get lost on the wall and can make the space look cluttered and chaotic. Statement pieces will give the room a focal point.

Consider Every Aspect of the Wall
Take advantage of bare spaces on your walls to hang a beautiful piece or art. You can even place it in windows, on shelves, and on doors. Hang art in relation to what is already in the room and create a balance symmetrically and asymmetrically. Artwork can be centered vertically and horizontally, and if it’s not going to be perfectly symmetrical, focus on balancing the collection of wall art using furniture or lamps placed against the wall.

If you are hanging multiple pieces of wall art, make sure the middles of each piece are level. Connect artwork with your room’s elements, such as hanging pieces over the center of sofas and fireplaces. For your dining room, place wall art a little lower than you usually would because it is easier to view the art when you are seated around the dining room table. For raised ceilings with double-height walls, hang art a little higher than you would for a normal room to accommodate the proportions of the extra wall space. For an art gallery feel, use lovely pieces along your staircase. A varied collection of frames and sizes can be utilized, and they should follow a diagonal line upwards along the wall.
