Another exciting holiday weekend is upon us, and if you are staying in the area, there are plenty of fun activities planned in Eldon and at the Lake of the Ozarks to enjoy. Good & Perfect Gifts has gathered some details on a few of them for you. It's going to be a wonderful weekend, so do your best to get out and take part in some of these events. BBQ Lunch - Friday, Sept. 2
Wood's parking lot in Eldon will host a BBQ lunch from 10 am - 3 pm, with proceeds benefiting ECC SkillsUSA. This group allows students to attend leadership conferences, compete in various contests, and acquire work experience and internships. For $9, the meal will include pork steak, potato salad, baked beans, chips, and a drink. A pretty delicious way to start off the holiday weekend while helping out some deserving students.
Rocky Mount Sweet Corn Festival - Saturday, Sept. 3
Join the community for fun activities, contests, and great food, all to benefit local firefighters. This decade-long tradition will begin at 11 am, taking place at locations throughout Rocky Mount, but mainly at the fire department at the intersection of Highways Y, Y-10, and W. The firefighters will be cooking up sweet corn along with pulled pork, burgers, and hot dogs. You can also take part in a cake walk, corn eating contest, popcorn relay, peddle tractor pull, corn hole competition, bounce houses, a cooking contest, and much more!
1st Annual 5K Run/Dog Walk - Saturday, Sept. 3
Beginning at 7:30 am in front of the Eldon Public Safety Building/ Eldon Police Department, you can run or walk along with your four-legged best friend. Sign-in and on-site registration begin at 6:45 am. It is $5 for dogs and $20 for their humans. All dogs must be on a leash, and prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, as well as a special award to the top dog finisher.
Lake Area Fireworks Displays
The lake area will host many fireworks displays throughout the weekend to celebrate the Labor Day holiday. You can find detailed descriptions with addresses and times at www.Funlake.com.
Friday, Sept. 2
- Old Kinderhook Labor Day Fireworks Fun Fest
Free activities from 5-9 pm at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton, followed by a fireworks display after dark. There will be bounce houses, face painting, live entertainment, and games for both kids and adults. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Saturday, Sept. 3
- Fireworks at the 5MM, Main Channel
This is a privately funded display, but donations are welcome on their Go Fund Me page. - Bear Bottom Resort
Sunday, Sept. 4
The Celebration and Tropic Island Cruises will all be taking passengers out to enjoy fireworks by water on Sunday. These cruises generally sell out early. Sunday displays include:
- Bear Bottom Resort
- Tan-Tar-A Resort
- The Lodge of Four Seasons
