The Most Popular Easter Basket Fillers

Easter is this weekend, and all of you that will be stuffing plastic eggs and filling Easter baskets are probably deciding what use. Good & Perfect Gifts did a little research, and we found out what the most popular Easter basket items are.

Popular Easter gifts
Candy is the top gift to give for Easter. Halloween is the only other holiday that beats it for candy consumption.

Chocolate is the most popular candy to give in a basket. 90 million chocolate bunnies are made every year for Easter. It's a proven fact that over 75% of people always start with the ears for their first bite.

Peeps are the most popular non-chocolate candy with over 700 million produced at Easter, and apparently jelly beans are pretty popular too. Over 16 million of theses are consumed over the holiday.

Exchanging eggs as a symbol of rebirth and new life actually dates back to before the holiday of Easter.

White lilies are a lovely gift to give your Easter brunch hostess. They are a symbol of resurrection, which is perfect for this holiday.

Got a little extra cash to spend?
The original Faberge eggs were created by Peter Carl Faberge and his company between 1885 and 1917. The House of Faberge made about 50 of these unique eggs, and today only 43 are still known to have survived. The most famous of these were made for Russian Tsars Alexander III & Nicholas II as Easter gifts for their wives and mothers.

An egg that was created to be a cross between a Faberge Egg and Damien Hirst's jewel encrusted skull is covered in 1,000 diamonds and opens to reveal an 18 carat gold globe. The golden globe also opens to produce a crystal bird. It took 3 years to complete this beauty and was put together by a team of artisans from all over the world.

One of the most expensive chocolate eggs ever was made out of Venezuelan Amadei chocolate. This one also took 3 days to create. Seven chefs worked together to make this 110-pound treat that was filled with handcrafted William Curley chocolates in a variety of flavors and covered in edible gold leaf.

More than a basket...

Sometimes the best thing about a tradition is changing it up a little bit. Not enough to change it entirely, but just enough to make it your own. Get creative with what you use for an Easter basket this year. No woman can resist a luxurious Brighton bag filled with chocolate! If you are shopping for a budding chef, pack a decorative mixing bowl with a combination of dyed and stuffed eggs. If it's something the recipient will enjoy and it can hold fun things inside it, make it the "basket."

Gifts to fill your baskets.

What types of treats do adults like to find inside an Easter basket? Even the smallest gifts can bring about the biggest joy. Good & Perfect Gifts offers an immense variety of beautiful jewelry.

Our Mariana guardian angel necklaces are always a popular item, all of which are handcrafted in Israel. Earrings and bracelets fit perfectly into a plastic Easter egg. We've got some adorable chick, egg, and rabbit cookie cutters, and everyone loves our scented candles.

If the basket you are filling is for a gentleman, we've got that covered too. You will find witty items for the golfers and fisherman in your life. No man can resist our gourmet treats, and we even carry Autoglam auto air fresheners in manly scents like "cowboy."

Entertain holiday company.

Easter brunch hosts will find lots of wonderful items to decorate their home for the holiday in our Lake of the Ozarks gift shop. We have the cutest ceramic bunnies and baby chicks in stock right now, along with some lovely artificial spring floral arrangements.

Candles are wonderful for setting an inviting mood, and our shelves are filled with gourmet mixes, preserves, sauces, and more for mixing up some amazing meals and appetizers. 10 Interesting St. Patrick's Day Facts

March is known for bringing along with it spring, occasionally Easter (unless it's in April), and St. Patrick's Day. The latter is happening next week on March 17, but the lake area will be celebrating it early. This Saturday, March 12 is the annual St. Patrick's Day parade on the Bagnell Dam Strip at 1:00 pm.

All of us here at Good & Perfect Gifts thought that it would be fun to look up a few interesting facts about some of the traditions that are associated with this holiday. Here are a few that we discovered.

1. March 17 is not he birth of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day that he died in 461 AD.

2. St. Patrick wasn't actually Irish. His parents were Roman citizens living in England at the end of the 4th century AD. As a teenager, he was taken by slavers to Ireland.

3. His color was blue, not green. Some say that we now associate the color green with this holiday because Ireland is know as the "Emerald Isle" and because of St. Patrick's teachings using a clover.

4. He used the shamrock to represent the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, & the Holy Ghost. People also say that the three leaves of a clover stand for "faith, hope, & love". If you find a 4-leaf clover, this last leaf is for "luck."

5. For every 10,000 3-leaf clovers on the planet, there is only one 4-leaf clover to be found.

6. The phrase "Luck of the Irish" came about because Ireland is said to contain more 4-leaf clovers than any other place.

7. The Guinness Book of World Records lists the clover with the most leaves as having 14.

8. You are expected to wear green on St. Patrick's Day because it is supposed to make you invisible to leprechauns. These tricky fairy creatures were said to sneak up and pinch anyone that they could see. This is how the tradition of pinching people that don't wear green on the holiday came about, to warn them about the leprechauns!

9. The earliest known reference of a leprechaun appeared in "Adventure of Fergus, Son of Leti," a medieval tale.

10. Before the 20th century, leprechauns were depicted as wearing red rather than the green we see them in today.

If you are needing a touch of green for your own wardrobe, visit our Lake of the Ozarks jewelry store and browse the vast selection of beautiful pieces that we carry. You are sure to find something stunning to take home to keep your friends from pinching you.

For all of your fashion, home decor, and gift needs, we've got what you are looking for at Good & Perfect Gifts in Eldon. Have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day, and next we will all anxiously count down the days until spring is here!

7 Design Styles Explained. What Is Yours?

When it comes to decorating your home, even if you don't realize it, you probably have a design style. Gathering items that you like and enjoy being surrounded by comes naturally. Once these are all put together, a design style is most likely present.

If you don't like the look of your current home decor, use the descriptions of the styles below to pull a look that you love together. Good & Perfect Gifts is filled with numerous home decor pieces that will help you to achieve these looks, as well as many more.

Coastal

This design style is usually inspired by the ocean, but the visitors to our Lake of the Ozarks gift shop are more often inspired by the gorgeous lake located a few miles away from us. Rooms in a coastal style have a warm, relaxing, and inviting feel to them, as if you just arrived to your first day of a vacation on the beach. Home decor accents will lean toward nautical and beach themes, and include unfinished wood pieces, seashells, and ropes. White, blue, and sand-inspired colors are often used.

Tropical

Tropical destinations like Hawaii are the inspiration for this look. This beach-inspired decor tends to be much bolder and more exotic than the coastal beach theme. It will include heavy prints of palm leaves and brightly colored flowers. Furniture and accents may include thatched material. The feel upon entering a tropical room is relaxation, comfort, and hospitality.

Mediterranean

The coastal regions of Spain, Greece, and Italy are strong in this design style. The richer, warmer colors of the sea are evident here. Shades such as terra cotta and yellow look gorgeous. Ceramic tiles fit wonderfully with this look, and sturdy furniture with ornately turned legs and feet in hardwood or wrought iron are often used.

Rustic/Country

Lots of natural elements and textures are present in a country-inspired room: wood, stone, and burlap to name a few. Decor can include items that would be found on a farm. Furniture is often antique, and many items are handmade. Lace softens the look for a more elegant feel, and incorporating plaids and worn leather can give it more of a western design.

Shabby Chic

This look has a charming elegance about it, while at the same time feeling very lived-in and antique. Vintage accessories that you would find in a flea market decorate the room. Furniture pieces are often painted wood with bits of color worn off to expose the wood underneath. Accents are generally light in color, and the entire room has the feel as if everything has been artistically collected.

Contemporary

Clean, sleek lines and solid colors are present in this design style. Neutral colors will be used throughout the furniture, and possibly "pops" of bolder colors throughout the accessories. Furniture will have sleek lines and basic shapes, and clutter will be nowhere in sight.

Eclectic

This title describes a design style that may, at first glance, appear like a lot of different styles have been thrown together randomly. If done correctly, even though the decor looks random, pieces have been placed so that they work cohesively together. Entering a room like this gives a person a sense of imagination and free expression. Many colorful pieces will be placed around the room in varying patterns and fabrics.

If any of those descriptions have inspired you to focus in on one particular design style for a room in your home, stop by our home decor store at the Lake of the Ozarks and let us help you. We offer a wide variety of items that work beautifully with many different looks. Good & Perfect Gifts in Eldon is the best place to find everything that you need to give a room the look and feel that you are striving for.
